Gay Airman Feels Support from Friends & Family

By: Jase Peeples

The gay airman previously known for his faceless posts about being gay in the military captured our hearts yesterday when he came out to his father online and posted the personal moment on YouTube.

Since then, Private 1stclass Randy Phillips has become an inspiration to so many people all over the world for his bravery in the moments following the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell."

The Advocate reports the 21-year-old airman stationed in Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany is feeling the support of everyone around him.

"It feels great. It's nice not having to look over your shoulder, or worry about who you are talking to," Phillips told ABC News this morning. "I think everybody knows. I never thought I'd be so comfortable with it. It's very supportive. Everybody's been absolutely great."
