Apple Founder and CEO, Steve Jobs, Dies at 56
ABC News reports the mastermind behind “insanely great products” such as Apple’s iPhone, iPad, iMac and iTunes has passed away at 56.
The homepage of Apple’s website was changed earlier this evening to a full-page image of the visionary, accompanied by the words, “Steve Jobs 1955-2011.”
One click of the image pulls up the following statement from Apple:
"Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple."
The company’s new CEO, Tim Cook, has been outed as gay and was even named number 1 in Out magazine’s “Power 50” back in May, but given the legacy that Jobs has left behind, Cook certainly has his work cut out for him.
