Gaga Slams Antigay Tweets About Jamey Rodemeyer
Briefly last week one of the most popular Twitter hashtags involved hateful jabs against both Gaga and bullied gay teen Jamey Rodemeyer. But Mother Monster was quick to call out the group of Twitter homophobes, who used the hashtag #GagasCareerDiedWithJamey.
In response, she posted to her own Twitter page: "Tweets about a 14 yr olds suicide in order to take a jab at me? Consider your integrity making fun at a dead child's pain. Direct your insults @Lady Gaga, I can take it. Don't bring in those who are not alive anymore to defend themselves. Be braver than that."
Since Jamey Rodemeyer's death last September, Gaga has met with President Obama and launched a worldwide campaign to make bullying illegal. Just days after the suicide, she paid a heartfelt tribute to the 14-year-old student at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas, dedicating her song "Hair".
