Two Gay Men Are Finalists in PETA's 'Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door' Contest

By: Joe Thompson

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 3 million members and supporters. They also do a number of great promotional campaigns (Remember the nude/shirtless celeb pics from a couple years back?) and the current one is their "Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door" contest, where two lucky winners (one male and one female) will each receive a free trip to Hawaii, courtesy of the PETA Member Advantage Program. Two of the guys in the running are openly gay, 28-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y., resident Zachary Koval (left) and 23-year-old Mark Kostedt of Maryland Heights, Mo. (right).

May the joking commence...
•They may be vegetarian, but they obviously love meat!
•Perhaps they don't swallow.
•I love a vegetarian who tries to win by teasing us with his Polska Kielbasa of pleasure.
•Does taking a hot beef injection count if it's not digested?

Whew! Okay, back to business.

According to the press notes, "Koval went vegetarian at age 10 and later went vegan after learning about the suffering of cows used for their milk and hens used for their eggs. His biggest turn-on is other vegan men, and of his buff physique, Koval—who is an actor with an experimental ensemble—quips, 'No animals were harmed in the making of this body.'

"A procurement agent for a multinational corporation, Kostedt went vegetarian three years ago after watching the PETA video 'Chew On This.' He says that his healthy and compassionate diet helped him lose a few unwanted pounds and that he has more energy now. He enjoys biking, running, cooking, and reading."

Check out their competition up close (many of whom are tasty treats to look at) and vote for your favorite male and female vegetarian. Keep in mind that "Three factors will be considered when PETA chooses the winners: the number of votes received from the public, the enthusiasm demonstrated by the entrants in living and promoting a vegetarian lifestyle, and PETA's assessment of the entrants' attractiveness." So, basicaly, PETA can choose they think is the hottest and represents their organization the best. Enjoy.
