WATCH: Over 1,000 Protest Anti-Gay Pastor Charles Worley
More than 1,000 people gathered in Newton, N.C. Sunday to protest comments made by Pastor Charles L. Worley of the Providence Road Baptist Church. Worley became the focus of national media attention last week after a video of his sermon suggesting that gays and lesbians be rounded up into electrified pens and left to die went viral.
Because of the size of the crowd, organizers moved the protest from Worley's church to the Catawa County Government and Justice Center about an hour outside of Charlotte, qnotes reports. Attendance at the protest was between 1,400 to 1,600 people, according to estimated Catawba County Sheriff Coy Reid.
