WATCH: Dan Savage's Champagne Toast to WA Weddings on MSNBC

By: Scott Ragan

"It Gets Better" founder and cheerful newlywed Dan Savage appeared on MSNBC's Up w/ Chris Hayes with a bottle of celebratory champagne to discuss the new right of gay couples to marry legally in the state of Washington.

Savage also talked about the two upcoming Supreme Court cases addressing DOMA and California’s Proposition 8, which will be heard in early 2013.

"The marriage fight is over when we say it’s over, and it’s over when we win,” Savage told Hayes in the pre-taped interview.

Dan Savage was married to partner Terry Miller in Canada during their 10 year anniversary, but applied for a new marriage license last week with hundreds of other gay couples in Washington.

The three-day waiting period is now over and same-sex couples began holding wedding ceremonies across the state on Sunday. The Advocate has some great photos of the historical day.

Watch below as Dan Savage and Chris Hayes congratulate the newly married WA couples.
