'The Advocate' Returns to Newsstands

By: Jase Peeples

After several years away, the longest running LGBT magazine publication, The Advocate, returns to newsstands around the world as a bimonthly publication.

The Advocate Editor-in-Chief, Matthew Breen, made the official announcement of the magazine’s triumphant return and the reason for the change in the frequency of publication on Advocate.com Monday, January 7.

“Our media landscape is changing,” says Breen, “and The Advocate has always changed with the times to offer our readership the content they desire in the format most befitting that content.”

Breen assured readers that urgent stories and news of importance to the LGBT community would continue to be featured on Advocate.com, while the print edition will strive for more in-depth reporting.

“For each issue we promise to bring you more longer-form reporting, analysis, and opinion,” says Breen. “Subscribers will see larger issues that examine the stories that have always been of importance throughout our 45-year history, including the struggle for equal rights and the impact of the larger culture on us and vice versa.”
