LGBT Critics Award 'Keep the Lights On' LGBT Film of the Year
C'mon, who else is going to give prizes to Magic Mike and Liz & Dick?
The Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association (GALECA) has announced the winners for their annual Dorian Awards, which recognizes the best in film and television of 2012. "With Oscar Wilde as their patron saint," GALECA, founded in 2008, is comprised of 80 established film and TV critics and entertainment journalists who cover those fields for recognized media outlets across America and the UK.
Mainstream favorite Argo won the Dorian Award for Film of the Year, but LGBT Film of the Year went to sexy semi-autobiographical drama Keep the Lights On, which beat out queer contenders Any Day Now, Cloud Atlas, Gayby, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. While American Horror Story: Asylum, Homeland, and Girls shared top honors in the mainstream TV categories, the LGBT TV Show of the Year honor was split betwen Modern Family and The New Normal.
Among the more unusual Dorian categories, Magic Mike and The Paperboy tied for Campy Flick of the Year, and Campy TV Show of the Year went to Liz & Dick, Lifetime's laughable Lindsay Lohan movie.
A celebratory toast will be held Feb. 17 in Los Angeles. See the full list of Dorian winners below.
