Gay Latinos Speak: Bianca

"An Honest Conversation" is a new video series focusing on LGBTQ issues in the Latino community. It was produced by the website Cuéntame to create a direct, sober, honest and often painful portrayal of stories from LGBTQ Latino youth, their friends, families and the community in general. From bullying to abuse, struggle to triumph, this ground-breaking series aims to break taboos within the Latino community while changing paradigms within this fast-shifting demographic.

Last week we featured Giselle, who also happens to be Bianca's girlfriend. She who talked about how language barriers and religion can make coming out difficult for young gay people. Today we focus on Bianca, who talks (in part) about surviving a suicide attempt. With this week's suicide of Tennessee high school student Jacob Rogers, Bianca's story holds more weight than ever before.

Watch Bianca's video and share it with your friends. LGBTQ Latinos often feel isolated and alone in major cities. We need to get the word out that there's a community waiting for them.
