Dan Savage: "Santorum has an anti-straight agenda, too"

Activist and columnist Dan Savage, who launched the Rick Santorum “frothy mix” campaign (Google it, but not at work), reminds Americans that the notoriously anti-gay former Senator “has an anti-straight agenda, too.”

In an interview with Keith Olbermann, Savage provides new insight into Santorum’s beliefs, including his recently stated position that states should have the right to outlaw birth control.  “He’s against birth control, he’s against abortion, he’s against pornography, he’s against all sorts of things that straight people use and enjoy frequently, almost once a week,” Savage pointed out. Recent research supports Savage's observations.

Last year, the Guttmacher Institute—a non-profit sexual health research organization, published a report revealing that 98% of sexually active Catholic women use contraceptives banned by the church. This report puts Santorum—who’s Catholic—at odds with the majority of women of his faith, as well as, the majority of Americans collectively.
