Rudy Giuliani: Republican's Anti—Gay Stance Does Not Reflect Modern World
Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani shared his thoughts about the current Republican leadership and GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum's positions on the issues during an interview with CNN on Thursday.
“I like Rick’s approach to foreign policy,” Giuliani said. “I like Rick’s approach to the economy. We have big differences on social issues.”
Giuliani then made a broader observation about the Republican’s Party’s collective stance on gay rights.
“I think the gay rights issue is a more current one right now, and I think beyond all the religious and social parts of it, it makes the party look like it isn’t a modern party, it doesn’t understand the modern world that we live in,” he told Erin Burnett. Giuliani also said he believes he wasn’t able to secure the Republican presidential in 2008 because he’s a "moderate."
