LGBT Equality and the Separation of Church and State

By: Michael Matson

On this week's episode of here! TV's excellent political show, For & Against, host Jim Morrison provides a much needed history lesson on the separation of church and state in America, from the days of the original colonies through today.

Morrison reminds us that the original motto of the United States was "E Pluribus Unum" (Out of many, one), and it wasn't until the Atheist Red Menace scare of the 1950s that "In God We Trust" was adopted. He also makes a comparison between the Taliban's conclusion of religion having an essential role in the lives of the people and the government and American churches and religious groups fighting against LGBT rights and equality, both overtly and covertly.

It's a fascination discussion you'll want to check out below.
