Following President Barack Obama's historic endorsement of same-gender marriage Tuesday, Rachel Maddow revisted the positions on LGBT civil rights held by U.S. presidents all the way back to Ronald Reagan during the AIDS crisis in the 1980s.

While emphasizing that policy is more important than personal views, Dr. Maddow looks at Reagan, Clinton, Bush II, Obama, and even presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney. She also highlights current antigay policy implemented recently in Kansas, Colorado, and by Speaker of the House John Boehner. This Rachel Maddow Show segment is the kind of fascinating, thorough, and sober reporting she's become known for. The complete segment clocks in at just over sixteen minutes, so if you don't have time to watch the entire clip now, be sure to bookmark it for later. This one is a must see.
