Mondo Guerra: A Face of HIV

By: Christopher Donaldson

After coming out as HIV-positive on Project Runway season 8, Mondo Guerra left the show to face what might prove to be his biggest challenge yet: Expanding our understanding of HIV/AIDS as an activist for the National Minority AIDS Council and Living Positive by Design, a new campaign backed by pharmaceutical giant Merck.

Recently, Guerra spoke to HIV Plus Magazine’s Neal Broverman about his “transition from fashion hopeful to impassioned activist” and why it’s important to keep a “positive outlook on life” well beyond the moment of infection. No doubt, the article inspires in rather remarkable ways, very much like its "unscripted" subject.
