WATCH: Kelly Clarkson's Powerful Anthem for Misfits

By: Brandon Voss

From Christina Aguilera’s "Beautiful" to "Brave" by Sara Bareilles, we love when a female pop star's mainstream single can be claimed as a gay anthem.

Be yourself! It’s OK to be different! You’re not alone! It gets better! It's all there in "People Like Us," Kelly Clarkson's inspirational new single.

Just in time for Pride, Kelly hammers her positive message home with the song's new video, in which doctor-scientists in a black and white world examine a sad misfit girl in vibrant color. Kelly quickly takes pity on the girl and reveals that — gasp! — she’s in color too beneath her Detox-y black and white makeup. Pleasantville, anyone?

"People like us we've gotta stick together," she sings. "We are all misfits living in a world on fire." Burn, baby, burn.
