Long Beach Gay Pride — May 18-19, 2013
Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Celebration kicks off the summer Pride season with the 2013 theme "30 Years Proud" recognizing three decades of established LGBT culture in this thriving coastal city.
The festival attracts more than 85,000 participants over Saturday and Sunday alone, including seven large dance areas and a main stage, which has featured musical artists such as Grammy Award winner Jennifer Hudson, Maya, India Arie, and Queen Latifah. This year's big score is American Idol winner Fantasia singing on the Pride main stage Saturday night.
While the official Long Beach Pride weekend is May 18-19, the party starts Friday night. Check out all the info below.
FRIDAY - THE PINK PARTY
The 6th Annual Pink Party will kick-off the Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride weekend. This year it's located in the East Village Arts District, drag performer Jewels Long Beach is hosting.
DJs spin the dance hits while Latrice Royale of RuPaul’s Drag Race 4 along with Detox, Delta Work, Raja, and Sonique entertain the crowd. Two full outdoor bars are presented by Hamburger Mary’s and Bliss 525, and guests will have the opportunity to get their hair and nails pink’d at the Big Pink Hair and Nail stations.
A portion of the proceeds from the Pink Party will benefit the Long Beach Gay & Lesbian Center’s Mentoring Youth Through Empowerment (MYTE) program.
NOTE: From May 17 at 2:00pm until May 19 at 1:00am, Linden Avenue from 1st Street to Broadway, and 1st Street from Linden to Elm avenues will be closed.

The parade hot spot kicks off an hour early at 9:30am located on Cherry Ave. and Ocean Blvd. at Bixby Park, the location provides plenty of shade and a community gathering spot for anyone watching the parade.
