Cosmo’s 6 Most Infamous Male Centerfolds

Iconic Cosmopolitan magazine editor Helen Gurley Brown, who died Monday at the age of 90, will long be remembered for her contributions to the women’s liberation movement. Today we remember her for introducing the concept of naked male centerfolds, which boosted Cosmo's circulation, defined the mag’s sexy edge, and reportedly inspired the creation of Playgirl.

Burt Reynolds went from actor to icon in April 1972 when he became the very first man to drop trou in the pages of Cosmopolitan. Like most Cosmo centerfolds to follow, he was shot by noted fashion photographer Francesco Scavullo. Boy, that bear rug is one lucky bitch.

Long before he went on to host Hollywood Squares and other TV game shows, all-American actor John Davidson followed Burt Reynolds as Cosmo’s second celebrity nude centerfold in 1974.

Best known as a record-setting running back with the Cleveland Browns, football Hall of Famer and actor Jim Brown also showed off his sporty equipment for a Cosmo centerfold in the ’70s.

Pumping Iron bodybuilder Ahnold was muscle-worshipped as “Cosmo's Beautiful Man” in 1977, many years before he became The Terminator and California’s Governator.

The Republican senator from Massachusetts once showed off his stimulus package in the June 1982 issue of Cosmo, in which the 22-year-old law student was voted “America’s Sexiest Man.”

Before the Hoff sprawled out on the floor eating burgers, the Baywatch star sprawled out naked with two strategically placed puppies for Cosmo’s 25th anniversary centerfold in 1990.
