Update Your Gay Status With Facebook's Pride Emoji

In response to yesterday's DOMA ruling, Facebook has debuted a rainbow emoji in celebration of LGBT pride.

To make the emoji appear — yes, I feel like a teen d-bag typing the word "emoji" more than once — click on the smiley-face icon below your status-update box and type “pride” after “feeling.”

A Facebook representative confirmed to Mashable that the colorful icon launched in light of the DOMA decision. The perk should come as no surprise considering Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's status update yesterday about the SCOTUS rulings: ”I’m proud that our country is moving in the right direction, and I’m happy for so many of my friends and their families. #PrideConnectsUs — feeling proud.”

The new Facebook emoji pairs nicely with Google's annual Pride shout-out  — search for the word "gay" and get a rainbow surprise — which, like us, you may have already discovered by happy accident.
