The It Gets Better Project gets even better — and gayer — with the It Gets Better Musical Theater Project, which aims to rally allies and spread the message of the anti-bullying social movement through stories, pop songs, original songs, and multimedia.

A non-profit collaboration between the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA), Speak Theater Arts, and the It Gets Better Project, this exclusively authorized live stage version of It Gets Better will premiere Oct. 19 at the University of Iowa with future stops already planned for Penn State, Kansas, and Seattle.

A six-member cast from GMCLA — Jason Currie, Tyler Houston, Tod Macofsky, Mario Mosley, Sacha Sacket, and Drew Tablak — form the core of the national touring production, which will also conduct community outreach activities and other public events throughout their weekly residencies. Writer-director Liesel Reinhart describes the tour as "progressive... edgy... and fun — probably more fun than people think it will be."
