Billy Porter Kicks Off Gay Club's 'Monday Musicals'

Broadway fans freaked when New York's Splash announced its closing, since it presumably meant the end of the gay nightclub's "Musical Mondays," where excitable show queens congregate to watch and kiki over YouTube clips of musical numbers.

Luckily, Splash promoter Dougie Meyer saved the popular weekly event, renaming it "Monday Musicals" and relocating it uptown to XL Nightclub this week.

The first "Monday Musicals" welcomed out Tony winner Billy Porter, who, decked out in his Kinky Boots character's signature red boots, performed and judged an audience contest for "fiercest walk."

Upcoming "Monday Musicals" will feature performances by The Lion King's Chondra Profit and burlesque star — and Kate Middleton's cousin — Katrina Darling.
