2009 Boston Pride Guide
For over 39 years Boston Pride has organized a week of amazing events, including the week-topping Parade and Festival -- and Boston has plenty to be proud of. Not only does the city host the largest Pride celebration in New England (over 1 million participants), but the community also celebrates in the first state to allow same-sex couples the legal right to marry.
The 2009 Boston Pride Festival is June 13th and is always held at Boston City Hall Plaza, starting at Noon.
Melissa Etheridge will be the Celebrity Marshal, along with Grand Marshal, Pathways to Wellness and Honorary Marshal, Barbara Jordan.
Taylor Dayne will be performing on stage as the '09 headliner, along with sexy singer Brian Kent, and comedians Marga Gomez and Ian Harvie.
Hobnob with the famous in Pride Celebrity Garden. For a mere $5 entrance donation, enjoy a beer or a beverage in the mezzanine level of City Hall while meeting and getting autographs of all of the festival artists -- plus see all of the action of the Festival from a birds eye view!
One of the highlights of this year's event is Kings and Queens of Boston -- the very first, very glittery, very fancy King and Queen Pageant. Pageant Finale will be held on June 11th at 7pm at The Estate, 1 Boylston Place.
Block rockin' Beats! Every year Boston Pride hosts two distinct block parties with some of the country's hottest DJs:
Jamaica Plain Block Party, Sunday, June 14, 12noon-7pm (on Perkins Street). Don’t miss the hottest two female DJ’s in the area mixing up the hits. This year features the turn tables of DJ Kristin Korpos and DJ Jodi, both who will play your favorite dance tunes throughout the day.
Stuart Street Block Party, Sunday, June 14, 12noon-8pm.
Hot homo house action with DJ Joe Gauthreaux (NYC), DJ Ranny and DJ Shpank.
