Throughout history there have been many famous folks in Richmond. But, Warren Beatty, Pat Benetar, Patricia Cornwell, Shirley MacLaine, Debbie Matenopolous, Jason Mraz, Felipe Rose, Edgar Allan Poe, Elliot Yamin, several NASCAR drivers and sports figures....

The history... Monument Avenue... Hollywood Cemetary... Southern Charm... Wonderful historical neighborhoods and homes...
If someone came to your town for just four hours, what is the one thing he should do?
Visit Hollywood Cemetary... it sits just above the James River with some of the most beautiful monuments... Two US Presidents (Monroe, Tyler) are buried there along with Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederacy amongst many others....
What are some great restaurants for a night out with gay friends?
There are many great restaurants in the historic Fan District and around VCU campus (Avalon, Starlite, Cous Cous, Europa)
What are some great restaurants for a romantic gay date?
What about these restaurants appeals to you? Europa is a nice cozy place on the cobblestone covered Cary Street downtown... very European feel... from the food to the bar and lounge area in the basement...
What are your favorite gay bars and/or dance clubs?
Fielden's (after hours club), Godfrey's and Barcode.
What are your favorite gay parties or events in your town, if any? What is the crowd or scene like at those places?
Still being a bit conservative here in the South, there are not many big events that take place... The Gay Pride Virginia Event takes place in late September after the summer heat has backed off a bit... typically a very diverse mix of people from the gay community... there also tend to be fundraisers and events leading up to it that can typically be a bit fun.
Where is the best public place for a gay person to make out there (or isn't there one)?
Stick to one of the gay bars... Fielden's, Godfrey's, Barcode... though many places are gay friendly, you could still get some mean looks from the hetro folks
What is the gay community like there? Do you consider yourself to be part of any particular "scene?"
I think the community here is very diverse, from the older more settled guys, to the young VCU college kids...
Where do you shop for clothes?
Wherever there is a good sale!!
Where do you go for other forms of entertainment -- live theater, concerts, movies, art exhibits?
Are there any local gay performance groups, bands, or artists that you're a fan of? There are several huge museums here and once the weather gets a bit warmer, there are many festivals from the river to the old neighborhoods covering all types of cultures, food and booze.
If you had gay friends visiting from out of town for the first time, what are some "must-dos" you'd recommend?
Do the a run through of the town's history and beautiful homes... then grab dinner and drinks at any of the restuarants and bars I mentioned before
Is there a local cocktail that's popular in your town?
If it has vodka, it is good to me.
Where do the hot boys in your town tend to hang out?
Just depends on the night and the time of year.
If you had to describe the "average gay boy" style of your town in two words, what would they be?
Do you have any local celebs?
Other than local news folks...
What bar has the cutest/hottest bartenders? (Don't name people's names)
I have to say being a very large college population, lends this town to have tons of hot bartenders all over...
Do gay men and lesbians hang out together in your town or is that just unheard of?
Actually I think they get along pretty well...
Has your town ever had a "gay scandal?" If so, describe it -- but don't use names!
Several years ago the local school supervisor was busted on a gay 'social' site similar to gay.com... he resigned
Do you have a hometown crush? If so, describe (but don't name names).
Other than my man? Just the college boys doing their grocery shopping...
