Kiss Me, I'm Irish
Get out and celebrate St. Patick's Day (March 17) at one of Ann Arbor's Irish bar's. Connor's O'Neils on Main or Arbor Brewing Company (around the corner on Washington). If you want a slightly more gay atmosphere our very own Aut bar rather impressive Corned Beef and Cabbage in both traditional and a mustard glaze varieties.
Enjoy the Happy Hour High life
Upscale food and beverages can often be acquired on the cheap during Happy Hour. Places you wouldn't normally afford can be great venues on the cheap during Happy Hour (usually 4-6pm sometimes later). In Ann Arbor Rush street has amazing appetizers and drink specials during happy hour. In Detroit we recommend Roast atop the newly remodeled Book Cadillac building for great food, drinks and an amazing view of the city. Not to be outdone, the aut bar has $3 cosmos between 4-6pm as well.
Let's hear it for the Boy
Gigi's bar in Detroit (off warren) crowns their new Mr. Gigi's on Friday March 26th. They'll have guest performers as well as the contestants. Come and cheer them on. Come early so you can get a good viewpoint. Say hi to cutie pie Nickolai the outgoing Mr. Gigi's. If you're interested in competing stop by and talk to DJ Chico in advance of the event.
Dog Days of Winter
Check out Doggy Style at the Park Bar in Detroit proper . Tuesday nights they have video compilations and an ecletic crowds in an alternative Detroit setting. Catch it this month before it's gone, Doggy style will come to an end the first Tuesday in April.
Off the beaten path
For those interested in traveling off the beaten path, The Detroit ICONs (leather club) are having a Legs, Leather and Pipe event at the R&R Saloon (7330 Michigan Ave.) in Detroit on Sat. March 13th. Put on your leather, or your kilt (or both) and come out and show off your Irish pride. For those nervous about going to this part of town, the bar provides security at the lot down the street, park in a clearly lit area in sight of one of the security volunteers.
