City Guide: Las Vegas Bars

It's Gay Pride Weekend in Las Vegas, yo! But if you want to check out the local scene, here's your Gay.com list of bars that welcome the 'mos in Sin City.

With all those flashing lights, cross-dressing performers,
hunky cirque folk and sexy vibe pervading the air, Las Vegas may seem like a super gay city on
the outside… but the bar scene feels super small. You’ll mainly find bars in
the Fruit Loop (made up of strip malls on Paradise Road) and further from the
Strip in Commercial Center (though there are exceptions to that). Still, if you
feel the urge to get away from the brightly lit casinos, there are a number of
options featuring fun locals and tourists alike.

Keep in mind is that in Las Vegas the alcohol in mixed
drinks is often measured, which means cocktails might not always be worth the
money. Watch what’s happening before you commit to a night of vodka/cranberry
drinks. Safest bet? Stick with shots and beer to get your money’s worth.

Backdoor Lounge
1415 E. Charleston Blvd.
Bakcdoor

Las Vegas, NV 89104
702-385-2018

Primarily a Latin nightclub with hot men, beautiful drag
queens and wonderful camp shows. Both sexy and fun.

Badlands Saloon
953 E. Sahara Ave.

Las Vegas, NV 89104
702-792-9262

A friendly, neighborhood bar with a western motif (duh)
that’s close to the Spotlight Saloon. This is a real locals establishment.

Buffalo
4640 Paradise Rd.
Las Vegas, NV 89169
702-733-8355
Casual and comfortable, with strong drinks and fun regulars.
Leans toward a leather/Levi crowd, but there’s no regulation on that.
Everyone’s welcome.

Charlie's
5012 Arville St.

Charlies
Las Vegas, NV 89118

702-876-1844

Formerly Backstreet, this country western bar features go-go dancers, lots of cheap drink
specials, dancing, and on Wednesdays you get free drinks if you show up in your
underwear. I'm in!
Open: 24 hours a day

Flex
4371 W. Charleston Blvd.

Las Vegas, NV 89102
702-385-3539

No website with info, but what we can figure from various
other sites is that it’s a local bar, kind of far from the strip, with a dance
floor.
Open: 24 hours a day

Freezone
610 E. Naples Dr.
Freezone
Las Vegas, NV 89119

702-794-2300

Located right in the Paradise Fruit Loop (so it’s by other
bars), this place features good drinks, karaoke, gaming, various ladies and boys
nights, drag shows and hunky bartenders like these two studs. Woof!
Open: 24 hours a day

Fun Hog Ranch
495 E. Twain Ave
FunHogLogo
Las Vegas, NV 89169
702-791-7001

Primarily a Levi and leather bar, but all are welcome at Fun
Hog Ranch. The space has exposed wood, comfortable booths and a rustic
atmosphere, with fun locals and a friendly staff who are always available to
fix you a drink. Good times.

Gipsy
4605 Paradise Rd.

Las Vegas, NV 89119

702-666-8661

Gypsy has been around for a while, so it's probably the most well known— the “default” bar you hit when you can't think of any other gay bars in the city. It's got a popular dance floor that fills up with tourists on the weekends. There’s an
outdoor patio and a calmer adjacent room for hanging out, but drinks are
measured and not always worth the money so stick with shots and beer.
Open: 10 p.m.

Goodtimes Nightclub and Escape Lounge
1775 East Tropicana Avenue #1

Las Vegas, NV 89119

702-736-9494

Primarily a Latin club with dancing, drag shows, and cheap
drinks. The website is a hot mess, but check it out before heading over to make
sure it’s worth it.

Bare 04-17-10 (2) Heaven
Bare Pool Lounge
The Mirage Hotel & Casino
3400 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89109

The hottest Saturday night party is at The Mirage. With sexy
bartenders and dancers, an amazing lighting and sound system, top DJs and
performers, and all held poolside. Amazing.
Open: 10:30pm

Krave
3663 S. Las Vegas Blvd.
Las Vegas, NV 89109
702-290-0436

Located inside Planet Hollywood on the Strip, it’s an
especially convenient club if you’re walking from your hotel. Big dance floor
with impressive shows and fun dancing. Because it’s on the Strip the cover and
drinks are a bit pricey, so check the website to make sure you want to commit
before going in.
Open: Tuesday-Sunday 11PM

Las Vegas Eagle
3430 E. Tropicana Ave.

Las Vegas, NV 89121
702-458-8662Piranha pride

Oh yeah, it’s a leather bar (like the other Eagles in other
cities), with hot manly men, strong drinks and pool. A nice mix of locals and
tourists.
Open: 24 hours a day

Piranha Nightclub & 8 1/2 Ultra Lounge
4633 Paradise Rd.

Las Vegas, NV 89109

702-791-0100

If you’re looking for a great club with dancing, strong
drinks, and a mix of both local and tourists, then this is the place for you.
Cover and cocktail prices are good, and things are off the hook after 1am so
make sure you’re there early enough to not waste your time in line.

Revolution 04-18-10 (68) Closet Sundays at Revolution
Revolution Lounge at The Mirage Hotel & Casino
3400 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89109

Like Heaven at Bare Pool Lounge (it's run by the same crew), this is the closest party boys will get to a mainstream Vegas casino club. Hot staff, hot visitors, great music and performers inside a stunning venue.
Open: 10pm

Snick's Place
1402 S. 3rd St.

Las Vegas, NV 89104

702-385-9298

The oldest gay bar in Vegas (since 1976), with a double
happy hour: from 2-4pm, and 2-4am. Older clientele, very local feel.
Open: 24 hours a day

The Spotlight
957 E. Sahara Ave.
Las Vegas, NV 89105

702-696-0202

Old dive bar with middle-age clientele and super friendly
staff. Strong, cheap drinks, pool, and the chance of having a random but fun
time.
