NIGHTCLUB

Tracks Nightclub

On Saturday, April 24, Tracks Nightclub is hosting an Earth Day themed event, featuring DJ Matthew Harvat, a rising star in the club scene. Tracks is known for its elaborate set production and over-the-top décor for theme parties, so I can only wonder what on Earth they will create. Club-goers can enjoy $4 Long Island cocktails all night and complimentary cover from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

MOUNTAIN EXCURSIONS

Elevation Hotel and Spa, Crested Butte

Located at the base of Crested Butte Mountain Resort, Elevation Hotel & Spa offers its guests that comfortable Colorado ski lodge feel—with a contemporary design. Indulge in fine dining at the property’s unique culinary experience called 9380 Prime or enjoy a casual cocktail on the newly expanded outdoor bar and patio. The 11,000 square-foot Elevation Spa is the place to detoxify, beautify, or relax from a strenuous hike on Mt. Crested Butte, which stands 12,162 feet high.

Ouray

The breathtaking city of Ouray, Colorado, aptly nicknamed the “Switzerland of America,” is located in a valley at 7,792 feet and surrounded on three sides with 13,000 foot peaks. Outdoor enthusiasts will discover hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, mountain biking, camping, and “jeeping” at their fingertips. The city itself has preserved the turn-of-the-century appeal, as two-thirds of the original Victorian structures are still standing. Don’t miss the historic Ouray Hot Springs Pool, which has three different soaking pools with temperatures ranging from 88 to 105 degrees.

EVENTS

Springtime is busy season in the Denver charitable scene, and April has many GLBT-focused events scheduled:

HRC Mile High Gala

The Colorado chapter of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the largest national gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, will host its annual Mile High Gala dinner on Saturday, April 24. Featured guests include Emmy award-winning actress Crystal Chappell, HRC President Joe Solmonese, Michael Manning from MTV’s Real World DC, U.S. Senator Michael Bennet, and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. A silent auction reception begins at 5:00 p.m., followed by dinner and an awards ceremony at 7:00 p.m. Afterward, attendees will enjoy an exclusive after party with DJ mLe and DJ Markie.

Guest Bartending Event to Benefit Matthew Shepard Foundation

Join the Matthew Shepard Foundation at miniBAR (2623 East 2nd Avenue, Denver) on Sunday, April 25 for a Guest Bartending Event. The guest bartenders will mix up the night's signature drink, which will be $5. Proceeds from the signature drink and a percentage of the evening's proceeds will benefit the Foundation.

The Matthew Shepard Foundation was founded by Dennis and Judy Shepard in memory of their son, Matthew, who was murdered in an anti-gay hate crime in Wyoming in 1998. Created to honor Matthew in a manner that was appropriate to his dreams, beliefs and aspirations, the Foundation seeks to "Replace Hate with Understanding, Compassion & Acceptance" through its varied educational, outreach and advocacy programs and by continuing to tell Matthew's story.

miniBAR offers appetizer-sized samplings, wine, and creative cocktails to allow patrons the leisure of enjoying both food and drink in a chic lounge atmosphere.
