Montréal Gay Pride - August 14-15, 2010

By: Rick Andreoli
8.10.2010

The 2010 Montréal LGBTA Parade is scheduled for Sunday, August 15, 2010, beginning at 1:00 PM. This year's theme is "Super Heroes" so expect a lot of spandex. More importantly, the Montréal parade is known for having one of the best party atmospheres around, with a generous spirit and unbelievably sexy men.

The parade will start on the corner of Guy Street and travel east on René-Lévesque Boulevard, through downtown, ending on Sanguinet Street and at the Place Émilie-Gamelin where everyone is invited to continue the celebrations during the MEGA T-DANCE until the closing show.

The main highlight for this event is the Queer of the Year contest, but when you’re not checking out that action you’ll be happy to know that most official Montréal Pride events are FREE. We’ve got a list of events and photos to help your planning.

31 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Community Day
Sainte-Catherine Street
Between Saint-Hubert And Papineau Streets

Similar to the festivals at US Gay Prides (except this one is FREE), Community Day allows visitors to discover many exciting organizations, community groups, businesses and sports teams run by and/or catering to the LGBTA community. This event has a mandate to involve, educate and entertain.

Café des Arts

Eleven artists, under the artistic direction of Jean-Pierre Pérusse, offer us their interpretation of SUPER HEROES.

Often creating their art in precarious conditions, visual artists are in our eyes, cultural superheroes. By purchasing their masterpieces, you become their sponsors and their livelihood, thus 100% of the sales at this event will go to the artists.

Also on exhibit: ARTISTIC ILLUSION (Kat Coric and Jean-Pierre Pérusse, with the collaboration of Robert Laliberté). This event is free to the public.

Zone 5:00 – 11:00 PM
Tropical Zone: A multi-ethnic, urban and caliente zone!
New Champlain Site
Corner of Sainte-Catherine and Champlain Streets

Hot on the heels of last year’s success, producer David Côté is back with the second edition of the high-energy Tropical Zone T-Dance event. Groove to Hip Hop, Dancehall, Reggae, House, Soca and Calypso beats will get the crowd grooving with the talents of renowned DJs (Sandy Duperval, Blackcat, Eddie Lewis). Also performing will be Wiz Kilo, Supahead, Miss Katy, Joe Bello, Nadia Brown as well as Ill Nana from Toronto.
