Amazing Dates (That Won’t Break The Bank)
We all know that the company you keep is what makes a great date. What's more, some of the most inventive and fun times that couples share together are also the ones that don't break the bank. So get creative, grab your guy, and try some of these good times that won’t wear out your wallet.
Get Physical
Whether it’s a walk by the beach, or a hike in the country, physical activities can give you a chance to show off your playful side in a way that won’t come out over dinner and a movie. If fitness is something you’re both into, go for a walk or run in the park, or play a game of catch. Facing cold weather right now? Try bowling or a new yoga class. Ice skating is also fun, and if you're horrible at it and fall down a lot, it will provide two additional benefits: you'll get a good laugh and have an excuse for him to pamper you at home.
Community Theater
Chances are there’s at least one small theater near you that’s performing quality shows. Rather than checking out the latest movie blockbuster, make a date for a live stage show instead at a local theater. From jazz concerts and symphonies, improv comedy to productions of well-loved musicals and original plays, small town theaters can be big fun. Entrance is usually inexpensive and some performances are even free. And if the show is horrible? You’ll have memories to laugh about later.
Have a Picnic
Get away from crowded restaurants and waiters who always pop up at the wrong moment. Grab a blanket, pack a basket with your favorite foods, then head to the beach, park, or even your own back yard for a date under the open skies. Even though the nights are cooler, that just makes things cozier. Wait for nightfall and have a picnic by electric candlelight (no open flames, please), then snuggle up under a blanket for some quality stargazing.
Make Dinner Together
The process of preparing a meal as a couple can be more enjoyable than the end result—and more cost effective as well. From the shopping and set up to the prep and clean up, make each step a joint effort and see how the evening unfolds.
Hit a Museum or Gallery
It doesn’t cost a thing to browse through an art gallery, and many museums offer reduced or free admission during certain times. Viewing works of art together can make for excellent conversation between you and your date, and in some cases may even be educational as well.
Take a Staycation... In Bed
Remember when you first started dating and you'd spend hours together talking and hanging out in one another's arms. You still can. Cancel all weekend plans and commit to sleeping in, relaxing in bed, renting a movie and ordering in your favorite meal. Add a glass or two of champagne and let the romance continue.
