The city by the bay has a history of absolutely fabulous Gay Pride celebrations and 2011 is shaping up to be the biggest one yet! This year marks the 41st anniversary of the San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Celebration and Parade. The theme: In Pride We Trust.

We’ve got all the information you’ll need to see and be seen at all the hottest events the weekend has to offer.

If you can’t wait for the weekend to get your groove on, don’t worry, you have plenty of options. The historic Castro district has several spaces to help you celebrate Pride to the fullest and will be running full-throttle all weekend long. Breathe in the awesome atmosphere of Trigger (2344 Market Street) or take in the view at the Lookout (3600 16th @ Market). If you’re in the mood for cozy quarters and savvy sounds spend some time at Q Bar (456 Castro St.) or if you want to hit the dance floor you can move your body at the Castro’s most popular location, SF Badlands (4121 18th street).

The weekly party Full Frontal Fridays (A.K.A. Boy Bar), located at 2369 Market Street, is always a sure bet for fun seekers. “Boy Bar” features hot music and hotter go-go guys with plenty of space to dance the night away. Admission: $5

Get the chance to drop your pants and dance at Underworld-the Pride weekend kick-off underwear party. Located at 550 Barneveld Ave with doors opening @ 10pm. Admission is $20 advance/$30 door and clothes check-in is fast and free.


PinkSat_dusk_castrost The Dyke March and Pink Saturday
Celebrating the diversity of dyke culture, the Dyke March starts with a rally at 3pm located at Dolores Park (Dolores & 18th Sts) and then steps off with a march to Castro Street at 7pm. The end of the march lands at the feet Pink Saturday in the Castro—the annual underground street party in the Castro district attracting more than half a million people! The party will feature food vendors, four stages and three DJ dance areas with a main stage at 16th and Market Street.

Saturday Dance Parties
Throw on your dancing shoes and kick up your heels ‘til the sun comes up at Colossus and Club Papi.

Colossus is located at the Sound Factory—525 Harrison Street and goes from 10pm-8am. The party will feature DJs Paulo and Hector Fonseca with a live performance by Wynter Gordon. Tickets: $50 advance/$75 door (If available.)

Club Papi is America’s #1 gay Latin Dance Party. With sexy Latin Go-Go studs, a live performance by Christian Chavez and a special appearance by Dulce Maria, Club Papi is going to be muy caliente! It all goes down at 550 Barneveld Avenue from 9:30pm – 4am.

Sf pride parade SUNDAY, JUNE 26

The Parade!!!
Kicking off at 10:30am, the Pride Parade begins at Market and Beale Streets and ends at Market and 8th Street. This year’s Celebrity Grand Marshals include Chaz Bono, Olympia Dukakis, and LaKisha Hoffman.

The Celebration
SF Pride Celebration 2011 will be held in SF’s Civic Center on both Saturday (from Noon to 6pm) and Sunday (from 11am to 6:30pm). The Celebration features numerous vendors and more than twenty stages & venues. Sunday performers include Sandra Bernhard, Wendy Ho, Deep Dark Robot featuring Linda Perry, and many more.

SF Pride Official Closing Party
Taylor Dayne will perform Live at the Regency Ballroom for the Official SF Pride Closing Party. Also appearing will be Tyra, Raven, Raja, Carmen, Delta & Jujubee From Ru Paul’s Drag Race, DJ Glovibes (Ministry of Sound/MegaWoof). Located at 1300 Sutter Street, the party starts at 7pm with Hosts Peter Paige (Queer As Folk), Cookie Dough and more! Tickets: $65

Sunday Dance Parties

Ruby_skye_photo1FRESH @ Ruby Skye is San Francisco’s hottest monthly T-Dance. Every month a portion of the proceeds are proudly donated to a local or national non-profit organization, with total donations now exceeding $120,000. Party goes from 6pm-12am and tickets are $20 advance/$25 door. Ruby Skye is located at 420 Mason Street.

Sanctuary is Pride Sunday’s Late Night + Afterhours event. Located at 1015 Folsom, the venue sports multiple levels and will feature DJs Alexander and Jamie J Sanchez. Doors open from 10pm to 6am. Tickets: $20 advance/ $40 door.
