The Advocate’s Jeremy Kinser reports that Lindsay Lohan is currently in talks to play screen legend and AIDS activist Elizabeth Taylor in a new Life time film.

If cast, the starlet—who is lately better known for court appearances than movie roles—would appear as the Oscar-winner in Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story, an original Lifetime film that will document Taylor's legendary romance with Richard Burton. The Lifetime film is, apparently, not based on the book Furious Love, based on love letters between the two actors and which was optioned as theatrical film by Paramount Pictures as a possible directing vehicle for Martin Scorsese.

Lohan, who frequently pays tribute to another screen beauty, Marilyn Monroe, with photo shoots, was photographed forInterviewmagazine in 2006 to resemble Taylor. Deadline states that Lohan has often been compared to Taylor, adding that a 2004 article in Slatemagazine lists the similarities: “Both had domineering stage mothers, little semblance of a real childhood, fame from a young age, substance abuse issues, public emotional outpourings, and copious amounts of tabloid drama. The key difference, though, is that Elizabeth Taylor had a true record of achievement before she became the most notorious movie star in America.”

By the time Taylor was Lohan's age (25), she'd appeared in numerous films that have since become classics, including A Place in the Sun, Giant, and Raintree County, for which she received her first Academy Award nomination as best actress.
