Tim Gunn: 'I Haven’t Had Sex in 29 Years'
In case you missed the memo, The Revolution is a new lifestyle series focused on helping women transform their lives. It's hosted by a crew of experts in their particular fields, including Ty Pennington, Harley Pasternak, Dr. Jennifer Ashton, Dr. Tiffanie Davis Henry, and the "Make it work!" man himself, Tim Gunn. The show runs on ABC, and the biggest news about it in recent weeks was that it replaced One Life to Live last Monday, January 16.
Then on today's episode, Gunn tossed out a major bit of news.
“I haven’t had sex in 29 years,” the 58-year-old Project Runway mentor revealed. “Do I feel like less of a person because of it? No! Not even remotely.”
Years ago, Gunn had revealed in an Instinct Magazine article that he had been dumped by the love of his life and never dated again, but the info about his celibacy was news to us. While holding back tears Gunn explained, “He was impatient with my sexual performance.” The impact of AIDS on the gay community also caused him to retreat further from having sexual relationships, and other parts of his life soon took priority. But all is not lost. Gunn ended the discussion by stating simply, “I’m happy to be healthy and alive, frankly.”
