Swedish Underwear Brand Makes Colorful Statement in Russia
Swedish brand Björn Borg has expanded into the Russian e-commerce market by taking a stand for human rights.
Known for their use of color and hip, fun prints, the underwear company placed a full-page ad on page three of the Moscow Times, Russia's largest English-language publication. In a bold move to show the company's support of gay people in light of the country's antigay laws and attitudes, the ad features an assortment of colorful Björn Borg underwear stacked like a rainbow flag.
"Björn Borg as a brand has always advocated equality on all levels," says Lina Söderqvist, Björn Borg's marketing director. "It is a human right to love and to make love to whoever you choose and we want to make a point of that through the advert in the Moscow Times."
